Thousands of devotees thronged gurudwaras over the country on the event of Gurupurab, assessing the 545th birth celebration of Guru Nanak Dev founder of Sikhism.
Devotees in large numbers thronged the the Harmandar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar and other gurudwaras decked up for the event since early morning to pay obeisance.
Nagar kirtans were taken out in various villages yesterday, led by the Panj Pyaras (the five beloved ones).
In Punjab, Sikhs and devotees from other beliefs thronged gurdwaras in, Jalandhar, Patiala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Bathinda, Moga, Anandpur Sahib, Ropar, Phagwara, Ferozepur, Mohali amidst other locations.
Devotees paid obeisance in gurdwaras ina, Sirsa, Karnal and Kurukshetra of Haryana bearing a festive gaze on Gurpurab, one of the most sacred carnivals in Sikhism.
The ‘Gatka’ teams furthermore displayed their swordsmanship through different martial creative pursuits and at mock assaults using customary weapons.
