PESHAWAR: Nasir Durrani replaced Ehsan Ghani as Inspector-General (IG) police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.
The government of KP had previous requested the government for the designation, as Ghani had been dispatched by the caretaker government.
The police reshuffling was formally initiated after the May 11 elections. causes close to PM Nawaz Sharif disclosed that Secretary Establishment partition Shahid Aziz had forwarded a summary to the premier to this effect, in which the titles of three agents had been nominated for the mail of IG KP police.
Nominees for the post of IG police included the then Punjab contradict Terrorism Department added IG Nasir Khan Durrani, Regional police agent (RPO) Rawalpindi Nasim ul Zaman and added IG Khalid Masood.
Sources furthermore disclosed that the head Minister (CM) of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif had been reluctant to let Nasir Durrani go because of his highly professional status and good presentation.
The designation came a day after the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was surprised by a heinous strike on churchgoers.
The strike claimed 81 lives and injured over 100. 34 women and 7 children were amidst the dead. Seventeen hurt were reported to be in critical condition.
