Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday said he decided to retire from cricket because after 24 years, his body was unable to consistently take the personal burden of the playing the corresponds.
“I got that feeling, because after 24 years, you have to appreciate. I had numerous wounds, not very simple to overwhelm. You reach a stage when your body presents you a message, sufficient of this personal load. The body needs rest. The body is not adept to take more burden consistently. If I had to do a teaching meeting, it had become an effort,” he said at a press conference a day after his 200th and last Test agree
He said he may not bodily play for India, but “in my heart I’ll habitually be playing for India. It doesn’t issue if I am part of the group or not”
On triumphant the Bharat Ratna – the country’s largest civilian honour– for his contribution to the game, Sachin said he wanted to share the award with “millions and millions of mothers in India who forfeit numerous things for their children”.
